Get to know Michael

Michael Lum was born and raised on the island of Oʻahu. After graduating from Mililani High School, he attended the University of Hawaiʻi and began a lifelong commitment to serving others.

 

As the son of a pastor, Michael grew up learning the importance of faith, compassion, and community service. During his college years, he volunteered as a Sunday school teacher and remained active in community organizations, including the Diamond Head Lions Club. His dedication to service led him to become both Club President and Zone Chair, making him the youngest person to hold that position in the zone's history at the time.

 

In 2005, Michael entered the Medicare insurance industry as a sales representative for UnitedHealthcare. He quickly discovered that helping seniors navigate Medicare combined his passion for serving others with his entrepreneurial spirit. In 2008, he partnered with Shawn Nakano to co-found Premier Benefit Consultants (PBC), where he continues to serve as a Principal Agent and Co-Founder.

 

Throughout his career, Michael has earned recognition as a top-performing Medicare professional by making complex topics easy to understand and helping thousands of Hawaiʻi residents make informed healthcare decisions. He believes that education, trust, and personalized guidance are the foundation of exceptional service.

 

Michael has been married for many years and is the proud father of a daughter who attends Punahou School. As a family, they enjoy traveling, creating memories together, and exploring some of America's most iconic destinations.

 

A natural entrepreneur and visionary, Michael's goal is to make Premier Benefit Consultants Hawaiʻi's most trusted Medicare resource. He is passionate about educating seniors, supporting independent agents, and building a company culture rooted in integrity, service, and aloha. Through PBC, Michael and his team strive to help Hawaiʻi's kūpuna make confident healthcare decisions while receiving the personalized service they deserve.
