Get to know Ruiko
Ruiko brings more than 20 years of experience living and working in Hawaiʻi, a strong background in hospitality, and a sincere passion for educating and helping others. As an independent agent with Premier Benefit Consultants, she helps individuals and families understand their Medicare options and approach important healthcare decisions with greater clarity and confidence. Ruiko is fluent in Japanese and is pleased to assist clients in either Japanese or English.
Ruiko assists individuals who are becoming eligible for Medicare, current beneficiaries who want help understanding or reviewing their existing coverage, and those preparing to retire and transition from employer-sponsored insurance. She also welcomes questions from family members, caregivers, and anyone seeking a clearer understanding of Medicare.
Her ability to communicate in Japanese allows her to explain important information clearly and comfortably to Japanese-speaking beneficiaries and their families. Ruiko understands how valuable it can be for people to discuss their healthcare needs and receive guidance in the language they are most comfortable using.
Recognizing that Medicare can feel complicated, Ruiko wants every client to have someone dependable they can turn to when questions arise. She takes the time to listen, understand the whole person, and clearly explain the available options. Her approach combines thoughtful planning, client education, and attentive follow-up based on each individual’s healthcare needs and circumstances.
Ruiko’s commitment continues after enrollment. She remains available to answer questions, address concerns, and provide ongoing assistance as her clients’ needs change. She values the personal relationships that develop through her work and is especially grateful that many of her clients have become lifelong friends.
Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, Ruiko moved to Hawaiʻi after graduating from college in Tokyo. She has called Hawaiʻi home for more than 20 years and spent much of her professional career working in the hospitality industry. That experience strengthened her ability to connect with people from different backgrounds, anticipate their needs, and provide warm and attentive service.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Ruiko pursued her longtime dream of entering the insurance profession. She was drawn to the opportunity to educate others, help people prepare for the future, and provide ongoing support during an important stage of their lives. Her natural ability to connect with people, combined with her heart for service, allows her to make clients feel comfortable, respected, and heard.
Ruiko also enjoys serving the community through senior-care volunteer work and by providing retirement-planning education to employees of small local businesses. These efforts reflect her belief that people deserve access to understandable information that can help them prepare for retirement and make informed decisions about their future.
Ruiko is a valued member of the PBC family. A natural connector and helper, she brings warmth, enthusiasm, and a fun personality to her work. Her ability to assist clients in both English and Japanese makes her an important resource for Hawaiʻi’s Medicare beneficiaries and their families. PBC appreciates her passion for education, commitment to thoughtful follow-up, and genuine interest in the people she serves. We have complete confidence in the caring and dependable guidance she provides.
Outside of work, Ruiko enjoys bringing people together by organizing group activities such as exercise sessions, pickleball, and hiking. She also enjoys baking bread, exploring Hawaiʻi, and meeting the many amazing people who make the local community special.
