Get to know Shawn

Shawn Nakano, born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, is deeply proud of his local roots and strives to embody the "Aloha Spirit" in everything he does. A bit old-fashioned at heart, Shawn has a passion for collecting vintage bottles, antique signs, and Hawaiiana memorabilia. He believes in the timeless value of building relationships built on trust—where a handshake means something and your word is your bond.

These values were instilled in him by his father, who emphasized the importance of honesty in both work and life, teaching Shawn to always "call your own fouls." That foundation remains at the heart of Premier Benefit Consultants today.

Shawn has been happily married to his wife, Lisa, for more than 30 years. Together, they have two children, Sydney and Andrew, both in their twenties, as well as a Chihuahua-Terrier mix named Annabelle. Outside of work, Shawn enjoys spending quality time with his family, cooking, fishing, and golfing.

Licensed as an insurance agent in Hawaiʻi since 2002, Shawn began his career as an independent agency owner representing State Farm and Allstate. In 2008, he partnered with Michael Lum to co-found Premier Benefit Consultants. For more than 18 years, Shawn and Michael have worked together to build one of Hawaiʻi's leading Medicare-focused agencies, helping seniors navigate their healthcare options through Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans.
